4Quarters Weekly College Pick’em: Jerry and Mike Go Bowling! (Dec. 15 Bowls)

With the regular season over Jerry and I shift into full fledge bowl mode in the pick’em. For those who need the reminder of how the first leg ended. Championship Weekend results we each went 6-4) bringing our season total to both finishing at 92-49 (maybe a recount will be done).

Instead of giving you each bowl game all at once we’ll give you are picks in a daily dose of them.

Saturday – December 15, 2012
Gilden New Mexico Bowl (Albuquerque, New Mexico): Nevada Wolfpack (7-5, 4-4 MWC) v. Arizona Wildcats (7-5, 4-5 PAC-12), Noon/ESPN

M – I believe these two neighbors used to be in the WAC together many moons ago (Chris Ault was probably still at Nevada). RichRod has had a good season but I think the “Pistol” is too much for the ‘Cats in Albuquerque. The Pick: Nevada 56 Arizona 49
J – This game will be decided between which defense can stop the track meet between Arizona’s Ka’Deem Carey and Nevada’s Stefphon Jefferson. Neither team has been all that productive on the defensive side all season, but especially Arizona, whose defense may have cost them a real shot at a Rose Bowl with the kind of offense they have. The Pick: Nevada 45 Arizona 35

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (Boise, Idaho): Toledo Rockets (9-3, 6-2 MAC) v. Utah State Aggies (10-2, 6-0 WAC), 3:30 pm/ESPN
M – Last season the Aggies lost a heartbreaker to the Ohio Bobcats. Toledo has a solid offense but they’ll find Utah State’s defense is hard to move the ball on. The Pick: Utah State 24 Toledo 17
J – Toledo has a solid resume, but Utah State is 5 points away from being unbeaten and possibly Northern Illinois. The Pick: Utah State 28 Toledo 13

4Quarters Weekly College Pick’em: Conference Championship Weekend

We’re getting down to the end of the season and the Pick’em has been tweaked. Until the bowls we’ll pick from the ten best games of the weeks, not holding ourselves to the conferences that we had the first 11 weeks. Ok, mostly good games as Jerry’s (Florida State) and I’s (Nebraska) favorite teams in the mix.

Due to Jerry’s busy schedule (not being a jerk) he’s just provided the pick.

MAC Title Game (Ford Field/Detroit, MI): 21 Northern Illinois Huskies (11-1, 8-0 MAC) v. Kent State Golden Flashes (11-1, 8-0 MAC), 6 pm/ESPN2

Mike – #MACtion with the winner potentially getting a BCS bid should the big boys decide to let them in. Kent State has been a great story this season but NIU is one point from being unbeaten this year. Also this is the Huskies third appearance in-a-row in Detroit plus I really like Jordan Lynch. The Pick: Northern Illinois 38 Kent State 35
Jerry – The Pick: Kent State

Pac-12 Title Game (Stanford Stadium/Palo Alto, CA): 16 UCLA Bruins (9-3, 6-3 Pac-12) @ 8 Stanford Cardinal (10-2, 8-1 Pac-12), 7 pm/FOX

M – These two teams met last week at the venue that the winner of this game will play in January 1st. Can UCLA play better than it did last week in Pasadena? Sure but the Cardinal are still the better team and want that first Rose Bowl berth since 199. The Pick: Stanford 42 UCLA 24
J – The Pick: Stanford

CUSA Title Game (Henderson and Skelly Stadium/Tulsa, OK): UCF Golden Knights (9-3, 7-1 CUSA) @ Tulsa Golden Hurricanes (9-3, 7-1 CUSA), 11 am/ESPN2

M – UCF and Tulsa recently met with in Tulsa which will be the venue on Saturday morning. I like Cody Green leading the Golden Hurricanes but I’ll risk it saying George O’Leary’s team gets revenge. The Pick: UCF 28 Tulsa 24
J – The Pick: UCF

23 Oklahoma State Cowboys (7-4, 5-3 Big XII) @ Baylor Bears (6-5, 3-5 Big XII), 11 am/FX
M – I love offense and no conference feeds this lust than the Big XII Conference which doesn’t believe in defense. Last week the ‘Pokes scored 48 in their Bedlam loss while Baylor won by putting up 52 against Texas Tech in Arlington. The Pick: Oklahoma State 63 Baylor 56
J – The Pick: Oklahoma State

11 Oklahoma Sooners (9-2, 7-1 Big XII) @ TCU Horned Frogs (7-4, 4-4), 11 am/ESPN

M – Bob Stoops pulled out the motivational ploy that OU wins they’ll get a conference trophy/rings (despite losing head-to-head against K-State in Norman) if they beat TCU. I’d love to pick against the Sooners but I don’t think the Horned Frogs can get the needed stops. The Pick: Oklahoma 31 TCU 24
J – The Pick: Oklahoma

20 Boise State Broncos (9-2, 6-1 MWC) @ Nevada Wolfpack (7-4, 4-3 MWC), 2:30 pm/ABC
M – Nevada ruined Boise State’s season in Reno a few years ago but this game has a lot less on the line other than the Broncos last Mountain West Conference game. Chris Ault’s team will be game but I think Chris Peterson’s team gets win number ten. The Pick: Boise State 27 Nevada 20
J –. The Pick: Boise State

SEC Title Game (Georgia Dome/Atlanta, GA): 2 Alabama Crimson Tide (11-1, 7-1 SEC) v. 3 Georgia Bulldogs (11-1, 7-1 SEC), 3 pm/CBS
M – This game has been called the BcS semi-final contest with the winner taking on Notre Dame in Miami. Personally I don’t like that or that each team’s best win are against Florida (Jacksonville) and at LSU due to weak cross division games. Georgia got handled at South Carolina while Alabama lost to Johnny Football Aggies in T-Town. The Pick: Georgia 17 Alabama 14
J – . The Pick: Alabama

ACC Title Game (Bank of America Stadium/Charlotte, N.C.): 13 Florida State Seminoles (10-2, 7-1 ACC) v. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (6-6, 5-3 ACC), 7 pm/ESPN
M – Fortunately I have another game to watch during this time so I won’t have to watch Seminoles swatting the Yellow Jackets. The Pick: Florida State 56 Georgia Tech 6
J – The Pick: Florida State

18 Texas Longhorns (8-3, 5-3 Big XII) @ 6 Kansas State Wildcats (10-1, 7-1 Big XII), 7 pm/ABC
M – Remember the last time Texas beat Kansas State in football? I won’t bore you with the details but it last happened during Bill Snyder’s first term as EMAW’s coach for life (shocking even Ron Prince beat the ‘Horns). I like Collin Klein to do what RGIII did against the Longhorns last season to help his Heisman hopes. The Pick: Kansas State 41 Texas 17
J – The Pick: Kansas State

B1G Title Game (Lucas Oil Stadium/Indianapolis, IN): 12 Nebraska Cornhuskers (10-2, 7-1 B1G) v. Wisconsin Badgers (7-5, 4-4 B1G), 7:17 pm/FOX
M – Nebraska beat Wisconsin in comeback fashion 30-27 at the end of September in Lincoln, so you know the Badgers will be motivated in this game. Here’s what Bo Pelini’s squad has going for them the program hasn’t won a conference crown since 1999 or played in a BcS bowl since 2001. Husker Nation knows that this title chance is a golden opportunity plus I don’t think the Big Red’s (Nebraska not the opponent) seniors want to be the class 0-3 in conference title games (lost two Big XII title games for those who forgot). The Pick: Nebraska 24 Wisconsin 14
J – . The Pick: Nebraska

4Quarters Weekly College Pick’em: Week 13

We’re getting down to the end of the season and the Pick’em has been tweaked. Until the bowls we’ll pick from the ten best games of the weeks, not holding ourselves to the conferences that we had the first 11 weeks. Ok, mostly good games as Jerry’s (Florida State) and I’s (Nebraska) favorite teams in the mix.

Thursday (Thanksgiving)
TCU Horned Frogs (6-4, 3-4 Big XII) @ 16 Texas Longhorns (8-2, 5-2 Big XII), 6:30 pm/ESPN

Mike – The Horned Frogs and Red Raiders are taking the place of the Texas A&M Fighting Aggies which is a shame. This won’t change the fact that I think Texas wins this game easily. The Pick: Texas 28 TCU 10
Jerry – Texas held their famed Hex Rally (which used to be held for the Texas A&M game) for this game. Admit it, Longhorn fans, you kinda miss the Aggies, don’t you? The Pick: Texas 27 TCU 17

(Black) Friday
Heroes Game: 14 Nebraska Cornhuskers (9-2, 6-1 B1G) @ Iowa Hawkeyes (4-7, 2-5 B1G), 11 am/ABC

M – Iowa isn’t the “Rival” I prefer that the Huskers face on the post-Thanksgiving Day meeting but again nothing I can do about that. Nebraska wins and they are going to Indy next week as they dismantle the Hawkeyes in Iowa City. The Pick: Nebraska 35 Iowa 13
J – Easy day for Pelini’s bunch. What’s Kirk Ferentz’s buyout number again? The Pick: Nebraska 30 Iowa 7

Battle for the Golden Boot: 7 LSU Tigers (9-2, 5-2 SEC) @ Arkansas Razorbacks (4-7, 2-5 SEC), 1:30 pm/CBS
M – Smile John L. Smith your season from hell is ovah after the Baylor Bangles beat you down. The Pick: LSU 27 Arkansas 17
J – Another 10-win year for the Tigers but I wonder how happy LSU fans are with Les Miles. I think they’d be completely insane to be anything other than content but hey this is the SEC after all. The Pick: LSU 37 Arkansas 10

19 Michigan Wolverines (8-3, 6-1 B1G) @ Ohio State Buckeyes (11-0, 7-0 B1G), 11 am/ABC

M – Michigan’s mood probably will be the same even knowing if they are playing for the Legends division title by game time. Urban’s team no doubt wants to win this game to finish unbeaten and set up 2013. The Pick: Ohio State 35 Michigan 31
J – Ohio State fans hoping for a split AP title might be my new favorite subplot of the year. The Pick: Ohio State 33 Michigan 10

Civil War: 5 Oregon Ducks (10-1, 7-1 Pac-12) @ 15 Oregon State Beavers (8-2, 6-2 Pac-12), 2 pm/Pac-12 Network
M – This should be a good match-up between these in-state rivals but Oregon won’t be in the mood to mess around. The Pick: Oregon 42 Oregon State 24
J – A mad Oregon team that still has an outside shot at the title game? You want no part of that.  The Pick: Oregon 45 Oregon State 27

4 Florida Gators (10-1, 7-1 SEC) @ 10 Florida State Seminoles (10-1, 7-1 ACC), 2:30 pm/ABC
M – Florida are “paper” Gators in my opinion and I think the ‘Noles extend their winning streak in this series. The Pick: Florida State 42 Florida 31
J – I abstain because….well, I am not about to jinx this game #toonervous However, The Pick: This Game 1 My Sanity 0

Bedlam: 21 Oklahoma State Cowboys (7-3, 5-2 Big XII) @ 13 Oklahoma Sooners (8-2, 6-1 Big XII), 2:30 pm/ESPN
M – Who doesn’t like some Bedlam? Last year the ‘Pokes won to clinch the conference title but usually don’t win in Norman just as Bob Stoops doesn’t lose three times at home. The Pick: Oklahoma 20 Oklahoma State 13
J – Clint Chelf has had a good run since being pressed into starting duty at QB but a backup on the road in a rivalry game is tough to pick with. No matter if the opponent has a history of tripping up where they shouldn’t. The Pick: Oklahoma 30 Oklahoma State 21

8 Stanford Cardinal (9-2, 7-1 Pac-12) @ 17 UCLA Bruins (9-2, 6-2 Pac-12), 5:30  pm/FOX
M – These teams will meet again up the coast should Stanford win this game. UCLA has been better than expected but can they move the ball on a stout Cardinal defense? The Pick: Stanford 24 UCLA 21
J – Both teams come in riding a huge emotional wave, but I look for Jonathan Franklin to put the home blue over the top. The Pick: UCLA 33 Stanford 28

Battle for the Jeweled Shillelagh: 1 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (11-0) @ Southern California Trojans (7-4, 5-4 Pac-12), 7 pm/ABC
M – Those who don’t study history are doomed to repeat it is a saying. No doubt Brian Kelly is telling his team about ND’s history of losing to unranked USC teams through the years. The Pick: Southern California 16 Notre Dame 13
J – I didn’t even know this game had a title, I just thought it was a rivalry game. Ask yourselves this, folks: If Mike Golic was insufferbale when Notre Dame was 3-9, imagine what he’ll be like when they’re playing in the national championship game, that’s why  The Pick: Southern California 31 Notre Dame 17

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (9-2, 4-1 WAC) @ San Jose State Spartans (9-2, 4-1 WAC), 9:30 pm/ESPN2
M – This should just be a fun match-up between teams who might not have the same head coaches next year. It’s also the last time they’ll see one another as WAC opponents. The Pick: Louisiana Tech 52 San Jose State 45 F/OT
J –  I really wanted to see the Bulldogs get some BCS shine, not for anything they did but for the sheer awkwardness of it. The Pick: Louisiana Tech 35 San Jose State 30

M – The Pick: Florida State over Maryland

4Quarters Weekly College Football Pick’em: Week 11

Here is this week’s edition between myself and Jerry going head-to-head in picking college football games. Five top 25 games, I pick Big Ten/Pac-12 games with Mr. Durney tackling ACC/SEC contests. With that said here are this week’s picks for you the reader.

Top 25 –

Iowa State Cyclones (5-4, 2-4 Big XII) @ 17 Texas Longhorns (7-2, 4-2 Big XII), 11 am/Longhorn Network
Mike – I want to take the ‘Clones but with the passing of coach Darrell K. Royal plus the ceremonial wishbone being put on display I think I’ve got to go with the ‘Horns. Yes, I’m sickened by this pick but respect that Texas honors there ex-coach. The Pick: Texas 35 Iowa State 17
Jerry – Strange to think amidst all the “Should Mack Brown leave?” talk the Longhorns could be 8-2 by this time tomorrow. Never change, insane 21st century college football. The Pick: Texas 27 Iowa State 21

11 Oregon State Beavers (7-1, 5-1 Pac-12) @ 14 Stanford Cardinal (7-2, 5-1 Pac-12), 2 pm/FOX
M – This is a Pac-North elimination game on the Farm on Saturday between Oregon State and Stanford. Both teams start guys who weren’t starters at QB to begin the season with the Beavers Cody Vaz and the Cardinal Kevin Hogan. The Pick: Stanford 24 Oregon State 17
J – A game not quite at full strength with newcomers at quarterback at both sides with Kevin Hogan for Stanford and Cody Vaz for Oregon State. The Beavers need to win this game in order to keep the prospect of the Civil War deciding the Pac-12 North, but with so much uncertainty in this game, I’m taking the home team in a close one. The Pick: Stanford 20 Oregon State 17

15 Texas A&M Aggies (7-2, 4-2 SEC) @ 1 Alabama Crimson Tide (9-0, 6-0 SEC), 2:30 pm/CBS
M – In this week’s episode of as the Tide Turns, Alabama welcomes in the man, the myth, the legend that is Johnny Football to Bryan-Denny Stadium. Can ‘Bama get back up after their cage match in Death Valley? Bigger question do the Aggies do the things needed to win another SEC road game? The Pick: Texas A&M 28 Alabama 21
J – Johnny Manziel would need to have a ’10 Cam Newton effort just for the Aggies to have a chance, trouble is this Texas A&M isn’t half as good as that Auburn defense was (and that’s not a compliment to the 2010 unit). The Pick: Alabama 30 Texas A&M 14

Baylor Bears (4-4, 1-4 Big XII) @ 12 Oklahoma Sooners (6-2, 4-1 Big XII), 2:30 pm/FSN
M – Payback is will, you know and I think the Bears will find that out Saturday afternoon in Norman. The Pick: Oklahoma 56 Baylor 31
J – Oklahoma has revenge on its mind after RGIII’s late comeback against the Sooners last year. The Bears defense will not offer much resistance. The Pick: Oklahoma 41 Baylor 14

2 Kansas State Wildcats (9-0, 6-0 Big XII) @ TCU Horned Frogs (6-3, 3-3 Big XII), 6 pm/FOX
M – Optimus Klein might not be playing but Old Man Snyder knows that better than anyone. Can Kansas native Gary Patterson ruin the dream season in Fort Worth? The Pick: Kansas State 38 TCU 28
J – Colin Klein is still uncertain for the game as I type this, so this prediction is completely baseless. The Pick: Kansas State 34 TCU 20

Mike’s Games (B1G/Pac-12)

Wisconsin Badgers (6-3, 3-2 B1G) @ Indiana Hoosiers (4-5, 2-3 B1G), 11 am/ESPN
This is the Leaders division title between the Badgers and Hoosiers in Blooming aka the biggest game for Indiana in forever. Wisconsin will be starting a new QB while Indiana has a roster full of guys who’ve never had this feeling for a big game. The Pick: Indiana 42 Wisconsin 28

24 Northwestern Wildcats (7-2, 3-2 B1G) @ Michigan Wolverines (6-3, 4-1 B1G), 11 am/ESPN2
Brady Hoke hasn’t lost a home game at the Big House since taking over the program. I want to pick the Wildcats but they too have a track record of not playing well on the road for Fitz. So these two things will come together Saturday morning in Ann Arbor. The Pick: Michigan 21 Northwestern 14

Arizona State Sun Devils (5-4, 3-3 Pac-12) @ 19 Southern California Trojans (6-3, 4-3 Pac-12), 2 pm/Pac-12 Network
This is a Pac-South elimination game between ASU and USC with both coming off losses last week. However, Lane Kiffin again under fire for the air being let out of the program in addition they are putting their best player on defense this weekend. The Pick: Southern California 49 Arizona State 45

Penn State Nittany Lions (6-3, 4-1 B1G) @ 16 Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-2, 4-2 B1G), 2:30 pm/ABC or ESPN2
Much better circumstances to this cross division match-up in Lincoln than last year in State College. Penn State has all the tools to pull off a road win but at the same time this is match-up Bo Pelini loves. Expect less Nebraska come from behind drama as well in my opinion. The Pick: Nebraska 21 Penn State 7

3 Oregon Ducks (9-0, 6-0 Pac-12) @ California Golden Bears (3-7, 2-5 Pac-12), 9:30 pm/ESPN
IT’S A TRAP! No, admiral it isn’t even if it looks like one in Berkeley on Saturday night. Expect another nail in the Jeff Tedford farewell tour to take place here. The Pick: Oregon 52 California 24

Jerry’s Games (ACC/SEC)

Arkansas Razorbacks (4-5, 2-3 SEC) @ 8 South Carolina Gamecocks (7-2, 5-2 SEC), 11 am/CBS
Admittedly, I’m emotionally invested in this one. Win it for Marcus Lattimore, Gamecocks. The Pick: South Carolina 24 Arkansas 7

Louisiana-Lafayette (5-3, 3-2 Sun Belt) @ 6 Florida Gators (8-1, 7-1 SEC), 11:21 am/SEC Network
The first of a Ragin Cajun-Jacksonville State back-to-back for the Gators as they will be 10-1 going into Tallahassee in 2 weeks. The Pick: Florida 38 Louisiana-Lafayette 10

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (4-5, 3-3 ACC) @ North Carolina Tar Heels (6-3, 3-2), 11:30 am/ACC Network
UNC’s 3 losses this year have been a combined 9 points. Quietly, the Tar Heels have been a huge surprise this year. The Pick: North Carolina 28 Georgia Tech 17

21 Mississippi State Bulldogs (7-2, 3-2 SEC) @ 7 LSU Tigers (7-2, 3-2 SEC), 6 pm/ESPN
Its not that the Bulldogs are the better team but this matchup screams Hangover Game for LSU. That L to ‘Bama is one of the more painful losses in recent college football memory. The Pick: Mississippi State 24 LSU 17

4 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (9-0) @ Boston College Eagles (2-7, 1-5 ACC), 7 pm/ABC
This is a truly terrible Boston College team and I feel like the Irish will have a point to prove after nearly collapsing against Pittsburgh. But let’s hit the way back machine; Thank you so much, David Gordon, thank you so very much. The Pick: Notre Dame 30 Boston College 7

4Quarters Weekly College Football Pick’em: Week 10

Here is this week’s edition between myself and Jerry going head-to-head in picking college football games. Five top 25 games, I pick Big Ten/Pac-12 games with Mr. Durney tackling ACC/SEC contests. With that said here are this week’s picks for you the reader.

Top 25 –

12 Oklahoma Sooners (5-3, 3-1 Big XII) @ Iowa State Cyclones (5-3, 2-3 Big XII), 11 am/ABC
Mike – Jack Trice Stadium and the State of Oklahoma? Can Iowa State defeat Oklahoma a week after the Sooners lost to Notre Dame? I don’t think so but with Landry Jones on the road it’ll be close. The Pick: Oklahoma 20 Iowa State 14
Jerry – Perfect spot for an upset: the Cyclones are at home and OU has all sorts of hangover potential. The Pick: Iowa State 35 Oklahoma 34

23 Texas Longhorns (6-2, 3-2 Big XII) @ 18 Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-2, 3-2 Big XII, 2:30 pm/ABC or ESPN2
M – Texas has been awful this year against good/competent offenses in 2012 (Oklahoma and West Virginia) heck look how many they had to score to beat Baylor. Texas Tech will be in a foul mood after the game at Kansas State. The Pick: Texas Tech 49 Texas 35
J – Seth Doege may not be on Collin Klein’s level, and that’s OK, but he’s above David Ash’s or at least the Longhorn defense’s. The Pick: Texas Tech 38 Texas 24

4 Oregon Ducks (8-0, 5-0 Pac-12) @ 17 Southern California Trojans (6-2, 4-2 Pac-12), 6 pm/FOX
M – Oregon is playing the rare Chip Kelly revenge game as Southern Cal won in Eugene last year. The Ducks offense should go up and down the field all night on SC. The Pick: Oregon 43 Southern California 28
J – I feel like Oregon was the better team last year and that USC got that win solely because they had nothing to lose. The 2012 Ducks might be their best edition to date and USC continues to wilt under pressure, get ready to watch Chip Kelly coach circles around Lane Kiffin and DeAnthony Thomas get arrested for speeding through the Coliseum. The Pick: Oregon 45 USC 27

24 Oklahoma State Cowboys (5-2, 3-1 Big XII) @ 2 Kansas State Wildcats (8-0, 5-0 Big XII), 7 pm/ABC
M – Last season this was a high scoring shootout in Stillwater won by the Pokes. Kansas State and Collin Klein will continue their win streak. The Pick: Kansas State 35 Oklahoma State 21
J – I know the Pokes got K-State last year, but tough to see them going to Manhattan without J.W. Walsh and winning. The Pick: Kansas State 38 Oklahoma State 20

1 Alabama Crimson Tide (8-0, 5-0 SEC) @ 5 LSU Tigers (7-1, 3-1 SEC), 7 pm/CBS
M – Les Miles is 36-1 at night in Death Valley. The Pick: LSU 12 Alabama 6
J – The Tide might have lost to Jarrett Jefferson (that’s not a typo) last year in the regular season, but history will not repeat itself. The Pick: Alabama 33 LSU 10

Mike’s Games (B1G/Pac-12)

Michigan Wolverines (5-3, 3-1 B1G) @ Minnesota Golden Gophers (5-3, 1-3 B1G), 11 am/BTN
Michigan has scored 21 points the last two weeks against Michigan State and at Nebraska. That’s seven field goals in the last eight quarters for the Maize and Blue. I’m not sure if Minnesota can win back the Little Brown Jug but I feel charitable with this game being in the Twin Cities. The Pick: Minnesota 17 Michigan 10

20 Nebraska Cornhuskers (6-2, 3-2 B1G) @ Michigan State Spartans (5-4, 2-3 B1G), 2:30 pm/ABC or ESPN2
After beating Michigan 26-9 the “Blackshirts” were given out, while this is the kind of offense Bo Pelini feasts on I’m weary since it’ll be on the road. However with tickets being available for $4 dollars on Stub Hub it might be a Evanston “Red Out” in Lansing. The Pick: Nebraska 27 Michigan State 10

Iowa Hawkeyes (4-4, 2-2 B1G) @ Indiana Hoosiers (3-5, 1-3 B1G), 2:30 pm/BTN
Kevin Wilson’s team got their first B1G win last week at Illinois expect another this week. Iowa has been off and on this season but I like IU at home. The Pick: Indiana 28 Iowa 24

22 Arizona Wildcats (5-3, 2-3 Pac-12) @ UCLA Bruins (6-2, 3-2 Pac-12), 9:30 pm/Pac-12 Network
I’m surprised that Arizona is ranked with three losses and the leaky faucet of a defense that they have. That said Brett Hundley and the Bruins offense will treat the ‘Cats as the homecoming opponent they’ve been. The Pick: UCLA 49 Arizona 38

Arizona State Sun Devils (5-3, 3-2 Pac-12) @ 11 Oregon State Beavers (6-1, 4-1 Pac-12), 9:30 pm/ESPN2
Oregon State was knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten last week in Seattle but are back at home this week. ASU has lost back-to-back games to Oregon and UCLA at home so maybe going on the road will be good for them, too bad this isn’t the venue for that. The Pick: Oregon State 24 Arizona State 17

Jerry’s Games (ACC/SEC)

Missouri Tigers (4-4, 1-4 SEC) @ 7 Florida Florida (7-1, 6-1 SEC), 11 am/ESPN2
Let me put it this way, if the Gators don’t win at home against a mediocre Missouri team after giving away the Georgia game, they get another week’s worth of this. You’d be motivated not to lose too. The Pick: Florida 31 Missouri 13

16 Texas A&M Aggies (6-2, 3-2 SEC) @ 15 Mississippi State Bulldogs (7-1, 3-1 SEC), 11 am/ESPN
It’s not that I think the Aggies are a better football team, but I do feel like Mississippi State could have a week hangover effect from the beatdown provided by Alabama last week. The Pick: Texas A&M 28 Mississippi State 20

Tulsa Golden Hurricanes (7-1, 5-0 CUSA) @ Arkansas Razorbacks (3-5, 2-3 SEC), 11:21 am/SEC Network
You know it’s a bad year when getting housed at home by a Conference USA team isn’t close to the lowest point of the year. SMIIIIIILE!!!!!!!!!! The Pick: Tulsa 31 Arkansas 14

Ole Miss Rebels (5-3, 2-2 SEC) @ 6 Georgia Bulldogs (7-1, 5-1 SEC), 2:30 pm/CBS
This has letdown written all over it but I feel like Georgia won’t lose at home to Ole Miss that just doesn’t have the horses to play all 60 minutes. Hugh Freeze’s team will make the Bulldogs sweat for it though. The Pick: Georgia 27 Ole Miss 17

13 Clemson (7-1, 4-1 ACC) @ Duke (6-3, 3-2 ACC), 6 pm/ESPN
I know the Blue Devils  have this one at home but this should be a replay of last week in Tallahassee, Duke is better but they need more athletes. The Pick: Clemson 44 Duke 14

4Quarters Weekly College Pick’em: Week 9

Here is this week’s edition between myself and Jerry going head-to-head in picking college football games. Five top 25 games, I pick Big Ten/Pac-12 games with Mr. Durney tackling ACC/SEC contests. With that said here are this week’s picks for you the reader.

Top 25 –

2 Florida Gators (7-0, 6-0 SEC) v. 10 Georgia Bulldogs (6-1, 4-1 SEC) Jacksonville Municipal Stadium/Jacksonville, FL,  2:30 pm/CBS
Mike – Do I think Florida is the second best team in the county? No, but they are in my top four. This will be your typical SEC game defense with a heavy dose of running. Jeff Driskil and the Gators win the 2012 edition of the “World Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” in Jacksonville, name appeasement be damned. The Pick: Florida 35 Georgia 17
Jerry – Georgia in a big game. That is all. The Pick: Florida 34 Georgia 10

14 Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-1, 3-1 Big XII) @ 3 Kansas State Wildcats (7-0, 4-0 Big XII), 2:30 pm/FOX
M – Everyone loves a good college football story, this game features two with Texas Tech and K-State meeting in the Little Apple. Optimus Klein against Seth Doege is as good a QB match-up as you’ll find this weekend but the home team plays better D. The Pick: Kansas State 24 Texas Tech 13
J –  Texas Tech has proved in recent weeks that it can score points against both offensive (West Virginia) and defensive (TCU) powers but they haven’t faced a team as complete as the ‘Cats. The Red Raiders will acquit themselves but that’s about it. The Pick: Kansas State 35 Texas Tech 27

Kent State Golden Flashes (6-1, 4-0 MAC) @ 15 Rutgers Scarlet Knights (7-0, 4-0 Big East), 2:30 pm/ESPN3
M – Rutgers is still unbeaten under first year head coach Kyle Flood but this will be a tough test for his Scarlet Knights. The Flashes will bring their impressive offense to Piscataway but I feel Rutgers remains unbeaten. The Pick: Rutgers 42 Kent State 35
J – Darrell Hazell’s group will look to follow Toledo’s example from last week but tough to see the Golden Flashes coming out of Piscataway with the win. The Pick: Rutgers 27 Kent State 13

5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-0) @ 8 Oklahoma Sooners (5-1, 3-1 Big XII), 7 pm/ABC
M – Oklahoma is 1-8 all-time against the Golden Domers and handed Bob Stoops his first loss at OU in 1999 plus hasn’t lost two home games in a season. The Sooners haven’t seen a defense like Notre Dame but have the Irish seen an offense like they will on Saturday night? No, sure ND has played v. Navy (Dublin, Ireland), Purdue, @Michigan State, Michigan, v. Miami (FL) (Chicago, Illinois), Stanford and BYU but this will be too much. The Pick: Oklahoma 17 Notre Dame 10
J – Let’s say Oklahoma goes up 14-0 in the first quarter in front of a crazy home crowd in Norman, do you trust Tomrett Reeson to bring the Irish back? Yeah, didn’t think so. The Pick: Oklahoma 30 Notre Dame 7

11 Mississippi State Bulldogs (7-0, 3-0 SEC) @ 1 Alabama Crimson Tide (7-0, 4-0 SEC), 7:30 pm/ESPN
M – I think Mississippi State can hang for a half or so but I’d feel better if this one were in Starkvegas than Tuscaloosa for the ‘Dawgs. Miss. State has a mirage of a record so we’ll see how they stack up against the Crimson Tide. At the end of the day ‘Bama will roll to win number eight with a bigger game next week. The Pick: Alabama 38 Mississippi State 21
J – The Bulldogs’ toughest opponent to date is Tennessee. This one might be a little tougher. The Pick: Alabama 37 Mississippi State 17

Mike’s Games (B1G/Pac-12)

Iowa Hawkeyes (4-3, 2-1 B1G) @ Northwestern Wildcats (6-2, 2-2 B1G), 11 am/ESPN
Both teams are coming off home losses the Wildcats to Nebraska, Iowa to Penn State so this game has huge Legends division implications. Northwestern is done in the hunt with a loss while the one loss Hawkeyes controls their destiny but must continue to win. The Pick: Northwestern 24 Iowa 21

UCLA Bruins (5-2, 2-2 Pac-12) @ Arizona State Sun Devils (5-2, 3-1 Pac-12), 2 pm/FX
Interesting story line here, former ASU offensive coordinator is on the UCLA sideline so he’ll be helpful in film study. However, I expect the Sun Devils to bounce back after being demolished by Oregon last Thursday night. The Pick: Arizona State 27 UCLA 17

Michigan State Spartans (4-4, 1-3 B1G) @ Wisconsin Badgers (6-2, 3-1 B1G), 2:30 pm/ABC or ESPN2
This is the third time these two have seen each other in the last year who could forget those meetings Michigan State wins on a hail Mary but Wisconsin winning the rematch in the first B1G championship game. These teams are different from a season ago but I’m taking the Badgers at home. The Pick: Wisconsin 17 Michigan State 13

Ohio State Buckeyes (8-0, 4-0 B1G) @ Penn State Nittany Lions (5-2, 3-0 B1G), 4:30 pm/ESPN
Ineligible/Probation Bowl or whatever you’d like to call it on full display in Happy Valley, interesting nugget on whose been the head coaches in the last three meeting Joe Paterno v. Jim Tressel, Tom Bradley v. Luke Fickell and Saturday it will be Urban Meyer v. O’Brien. While PSU is prepping for Braxton Miller how much he plays is in jeopardy which favors the Nittany Lions I feel. The Pick: Penn State 20 Ohio State 17

22 Michigan Wolverines (5-2, 3-0 B1G) @ Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-2, 2-1 B1G), 7 pm/ESPN2
Here is why this game is huge in Lincoln the winner has the inside track to win the Legends division. Denard Robinson against Taylor Martinez will be fun to watch as well but will revenge by on the Minds of the Huskers after last season? Michigan won 45-17 against Nebraska last season in Ann Arbor and their two losses this season have been to unbeaten Alabama in Arlington and at Notre Dame. The Pick: Nebraska 27 Michigan 20

Jerry’s Games (ACC/SEC)

Mississippi Rebels (4-3, 1-2 SEC) @ Arkansas Razorbacks (3-4, 2-2 SEC), 11:21 am/SEC Network
I feel like Hugh Freeze has Ole MIss playing better than their record would have you believe, and with a win here, 5-3 for the Rebs is quite an accomplishment. The Pick: Ole Miss 28 Arkansas 16

North Carolina State Wolfpack (5-2, 2-1 ACC) @ North Carolina Tar Heels (5-3, 2-2 ACC), 11:30 am/ESPN3
Coinflip game here, normally I’d take the home team but the Wolfpack have the better signature win this season. The Pick: North Carolina State 27 North Carolina 24

BYU Cougars (4-4) @ Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (3-4, 2-3 ACC), 2 pm/ESPN3
The Ramblin’ Wreck have played ugly this year but the Cougars can WIN ugly (and with a few breaks would be much better than 4-4). The Pick: BYU 20 Georgia Tech 10

Duke Blue Devils (6-2, 3-1 ACC) @ 12 Florida State Seminoles (7-1, 4-1 ACC), 2:30 pm/ESPNU
The Seminoles weathered an early storm in Miami last week to win by 13, but if they think they can play like that against the Blue Devils and get away with it, they’ll be sweating for their 8th win of the year. On the plus side, the officiating should be miles better than the NBA-like crew in Miami last week (I hope). The Pick: Florida State 34 Duke 21

20 Texas A&M Aggies (5-2, 2-2 SEC) @ Auburn Tigers (1-6, 0-5 SEC), 6 pm/ESPNU
Is it low-hanging fruit to have Auburn here? Yeah, but Mike has Indiana AND Colorado to pick from. The Pick: Texas A&M 48 Auburn 17
