Thursday w/ 4Quarters

Almost done with the week here are four Thursday topics for you to enjoy.

I’ve been out of town the last four days due to being in Kansas City for the 83rd All-Star Game in Kansas City.

So as you might have noticed this blog has been silent the last three days, I was in Kansas City for the All-Star Game and the hotel I stayed free WiFi didn’t want to connect with my laptop. So with this being a slow sports week the timing is actually pretty good. So I’ll recap the last three days and 4Quarters MLB power rankings.

First Quarter: Monday/Home Run Derby

1) Prince Fielder won his second HR Derby (won in 2009 in St. Louis)
2) Robinson Cano, the defending champion went 0-fer but got booed the entire round by Royals fans
3) Jose Batista, Carlos Beltran and Mark Trumbo made the second round
4) Fielder took out Batista in the final winning 12-7

Second Quarter: Tuesday/83rd All-Star Star Game (Kansas City, MO)

1) The National League beat the American League 8-0 (first ASG shutout since 1996 also by the NL by a 6-0 score in Philadelphia)
2) Melky Cabrera of the Giants took home Ted Williams MVP honors
3) Justin Verlander was tagged for five first inning runs
4) 83rd All-Star Game recap

Third Quarter: Wednesday

1) 20th annual ESPY’s took place which I didn’t care about
2) The Pacific Coast League won the Triple-A All-Star Game in Buffalo 3-0 win over the International League, Wil Meyers of Omaha named star of stars for the PCL. Release
3) Orlando Magic still have their disgruntled center
4) Things look to be getting worse in the Penn State story

Fourth Quarter: MLB 4Quarters Top14 Power Rankings

1. New York Yankees (52-33, LW-2) 2. Texas Rangers (52-34, LW-1) 3. Washington Nationals (49-34, LW-3) 4. Pittsburgh Pirates (48-37, LW-7) 5. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (48-38, LW-5) 6. Chicago White Sox (47-38, LW-10) 7. Cincinnati Reds (47-38, LW-6) 8. Los Angeles Dodgers (47-40, LW-11) 9. San Francisco Giants (46-40, LW-4) 10. Baltimore Orioles (45-40, LW-9) 11. Atlanta Braves (46-39, LW-NR) 12. New York Mets (46-40, LW-14) 13. St. Louis Cardinals (46-40, LW-NR) 14. Tampa Bay Rays (45-41, LW-13)

Dropping Out: Boston Red Sox (43-43, LW-12) and I put the Dodgers in twice last week which was a typo I admit to making
