Bo-files in History: Year 5

Look Bo Pelini lifted Nebraska out of the Bill Callahan era (while coaching up his players in his first couple seasons in Lincoln) so Husker Nation must be greatful for that and thank him. The title is Bo-files in history (profiles in history is the spoof for those needing it spelled out) as I’ve been putting off looking at the Mark “Bo” Pelini years as head Husker. This era in Cornhusker football started in 2008 even though technically it started with the 2003 Alamo Bowl which I’ll count in what’s about to be totaled up.

Bo Pelini has been at Nebraska six years, five as head coach. Photo by Matt Miller/Omaha World Herald News Service

With all of that said here is a breakdown of Pelini’s win loss record since being named head coach. So let’s begin …

2003 W/L 1-0 (Neutral 1-0)/Career 1-0 (Neutral 1-0): W 17-3 v. Michigan State/Alamo Bowl (1-0)
2008 W/L 9-4, 5-3 Conference (Home 6-2 Away 2-2 Neutral 1-0)/Career 10-4 (Home 6-2 Away 2-2 Neutral 2-0): W 47-24 Western Michigan (1-0), W 35-12 San Jose State (2-0), W 38-7 New Mexico State (3-0), L 35-30 Virginia Tech (3-1), L 52-17 Missouri (3-2/0-1 Big XII), L 37-31 F/OT @Texas Tech (3-3/0-2 Big XII), W 35-7 @Iowa State (4-3/1-2 Big XII), W 32-20 Baylor (5-3/2-2 Big XII), L 62-28 @Oklahoma (5-4/2-3 Big XII), W 45-35 Kansas (6-4/3-3 Big XII), W 56-28 @Kansas State (7-4/4-3 Big XII), W 40-31 Colorado (8-4/5-3 Big XII), W 26-21 v. Clemson/Gator Bowl (9-4/5-3 Big XII)
